About
Based in Montréal, guitarist and composer Roman Muñoz creates music that draws on the broad canvas of contemporary jazz, blending elements of folk, music from diverse traditions, rock, and progressive music. In 2025, his quartet opened for acclaimed guitarist Bill Frisell at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal. Enchantement, his debut album as a leader, is now available on Bandcamp.
The quartet brings together musicians active in Montréal’s music scene: Eli Davidovici (bass) and Allison Burik (alto saxophone and bass clarinet), both members of Bellbird, whose releases appear on Montréal-based independent label Constellation Records, and John Buck (drums), a member of Plastic Waste Band. Mike Bjella joins the ensemble on three tracks, contributing on tenor saxophone and clarinet and bringing a distinctive musical voice to the recording.
